We have new projects as always and our old favorites too in this years camps which are tied in to their favorite books like Percy Jackson, Hugo and Harry Potter as well as others. If campers are already Journalling or have a sketchbook they can bring it. If not, we provide them.

DRESS FOR MESS WITH SWIMWEAR under clothes. Towel and Bag lunch in cooler, beverages or refillable water bottles required. We have a fresh, filtered water fountain at the yurt.
As always we have lunchtime creek frolics so creekworthy footwear is required and students wearing UNSAFE shoes such as crocs, or flip flops will be restricted in movement. Acceptable shoes are Keens, Teva type sandals, watersox, old sneakers. This is an important safety requirement and they will be more comfortable in sandals that are comfortable wet and protect feet. We allow for carousel rides (but do not require it), at camper's expense. Each ride is 1.25. They usually ride one to two times three days of the week when carousel is open. We also allow tween teen campers to go to the cafe in the afternoons and it is possible for them to buy lunches there as well. It is pretty pricey but has healthy options. I worked as a CIT at this camp this past June. It was one of the best experiences I have had at a summer camp in my life, therefore, I decided to document a few of the activities we did. All the kids were fantastic and it was a pleasure to get to meet them. Enjoy!!

For ALL our camps, Dress for MESS! The yurt is an art studio and much of our time is spent out doors. A swim suit or bikini under clothes is a great idea and MANDITORY for the wearable arts camps so they can change in and out of outfits without having to go to the restrooms. Wear a teva/keen type sandal or sneakers that are comfortable when wet. We often go to the creek for lunch and some of our projects result in wet feet due to hose use. NO flip flops or crocs. They do not provide enough protection from sharp objects and are too slippery to protect feet. Water sox are ok if changing back to sneakers or other hard bottom shoes. Campers who come in flips or crocs will be restricted in movement for their safety. Towel or change of clothes is optional. Some campers don't mind being damp and we dry quickly in the sun. We can have them prepared for after camp events but let us know in advance to get them changed in time.

Lunch in zipper bag with coolie. If not ant proof, ziplock the lunch!!! Two beverages recommended. We have a purified water fountain for water bottle refills. Snacks optional. Cafe is an option for lunches. Let us know ahead of time if your camper is buying lunch at the cafe. At least five dollars is necessary for the less healthy choices. More for heathy ones, I'm afraid!

Allergies, (let us know), especially if you are bringing an epi pen. Sunscreen good idea on face and arms. Natural or off bug repellent is available for them to use. We keep extra sunscreen at the yurt as well at the sign in desk.

PICK UP and drop offs. At the big lot OXFORD road is the park approved parking. ALL PARENTS are now required to sign in and out campers each day at the yurt. If you have a compelling reason to need to stay in the car for pick ups and drop offs please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements with the office. We will try to work something out for you! If a different person is picking up campers you must let us know their names in advance. If your camper is in aftercare let us know. If you are more than fifteen minutes late for pick up your camper may be taken to aftercare in the POPCORN building. We can usually tell if there is a traffic situation affecting multiple parents and will hang in there as long as we can. But our staff may have committments elsewhere and may not be able to stay longer. Please use care if calling or texting us enroute! Safety is our priority.

Supply fees range from 20 to 35 dollars. This covers art supplies, but not carousel which is 1.25 per ride. They can ride up to two times a day. Carousel is open two or three days a week depending on your week. Have your camper keep their money in lunch box in baggie or backpack or a purse. Write their name on their money baggie!!! Many of our campers make an awesome bag perfect for water bottle, and money. This can be kept at the yurt or brought back every day.

Set Design campers must bring a copy of their favorite book with them to the yurt the first few days. They will be making a set maquette, (miniature) of thir book! If it is Harry Potter we have them all in the yurt and some of the Percy Jackson books...(first few). They may forrage the house for elements to use for the maquette. They will also make set items for the Adventure Theatre Summer Youth Play series and you can attend these performances throughout the summer at no charge. The theatre can provide show times and dates upon request or they may have posted them on their website. If you know a group, school or organization that would be good for our Children's Art Bridge exchange please let us know! We will add them to our list and send them a mural.

The only items we ask campers to bring with them from home are a journal or sketchbook of their choice and old jeans for the OMGz Super Calligraphic and Fairy Dragon camps. They will be cut up and used for a project. They can be adult or youth jeans but no smaller than a youth Large.

Wearable Arts Campers, we provide all the sewing supplies, and fabric paints, duct tape, beads, bric a brac, and iron, glue gun etc. Campers supply a JOURNAL or SKETCH BOOK, old clothes for transformation or current ones for decoration such as jeans, old "geek to chic" clothes can be ANY size, adult or youth, old but not stained sheets, table cloths, cotton linens, lace, old handbags, busted jewelry, jackets, suits, man-shirts, any cast offs that can be refashioned into something wonderful. NOTHING IS TOO TERRIBLE if clean. You will be amazed at what they can do! FYI nice cotton sheets or linen table cloths make wonderful summer party dresses! Too small Tee shirts can be made into cool blouses that fit, (you'll see), pillows, bags, etc. If not held back in your camper's backpack (which can be left at the yurt all week), these items are shared and kept in a group access pile. This is made clear. If your camper will want to make more than one dress out of a giant colored Tee shirt you can purchase them at Michaels or AC Moore, or you can buy them from our supply. If they want to tie dye more than one item we will charge based on the quantity of dye needed to cover the item. This year we have silk hats to dye, optional at a cost of 18.00. They are the greatest thing! A hat for LIFE...so great for travel. We will have one at the sign in desk for you to look at. Retail for this hat dyed is more than twice that amount so it is also a great price. If they bring a beach towel we will make the strategic cuts to make it a beach dress/towel. Feel free to send along any ribbon, old belts, fabric, anything you think will be useful to us. Whatever we don't use in camp we donate to the good will or to other art reuse groups.

Care and washing instructions...we recommend handwashing or dry cleaning all their handmade clothes to keep the fabric paints from degrading and preserve their hand stitching. If your dry cleaner or you do machine sewing, you may want to run allong their stitching with machine. It can prevent any "blow outs". We always tell them wear a cami or leggings with your hand made clothes until you are good enough at sewing to wear them without!!!

Fashion show tips: Send hairbrush, scrunchies, barrets, make up if desired, nail polish, cute SAFE shoes. It is a great photo and film OP and you can bring as many guests as you want. If you want to bring a refreshment or snack to share with the group we put up a nice table for the party. Watch the weather reports for that day, somehow we seem to hit thunderstorms for that more than not, so bring an umbrella. We usually reserve the cuddle up stage for that event, so the umbrella is for to and from the car!

Each year we look for ways to upgrade and improve our camps. We are always adding new projects and keep old favorites. No two of our camps are the same, so repeating the same camp will not be the exact camp from before. Most of our projects are totally unique to us. We take pride in inventing new projects and new themes year after year. Many of our TAs and assistants go on to very good art schools and become certified teachers. Katharine, now a graduate of UArts in Philadelphia now offers her own book arts camps at Glen Echo! Check the schedule online for her wonderful programs!

Six hour day is outside limit so nice short days! Folk Fest volunteers needed too~super fun event. Help us spread the word to find the people you know who would love our unique and fun loving atmosphere!

INTERNS
Have any of your older campers gone off to art school, or are studying to be a teacher? We have over ten years of experience providing quality internships for college students or post grads in teaching programs. Interns have access to studio evenings and weekends for making art! We have a nice short day, chock full of real teaching experience and studio art inspiration, we work well with professors and advisors to tailor it to the goals of the intern, and it is a lot more fun than any other intern opportunity.

School Teachers! Volunteer with us and learn how to teach wonderful projects to share with your students. We also sometimes have PAID TA opportunities for teachers who do well as a volunteer for a week. Contact us early as spaces fill up! GREAT PROJECTS for ART, English, History/Geography Teachers. We share our one-of-a-kind handouts with teachers who work with us~ we develop our own projects and our programs are not offered anywhere else. MOMs please share this info with your favorite teachers who would love what we do!!!! `

We will be sending an email to everyone but in case there was any confusion the Advanced funway. The list is the same, except for a few things to bring from home and a few items we had to purchase for everyone. The total cost for those items is 12.oo and if you would like us to purchase everything except for the bring from home items just bring a check for sixty dollars and we have you covered. We understand many of you have had no power and very hectic weeks this week!
As for the from home items: Jeans, any size, and sheets, new or old. If you have no sheets, old jeans (can be large adult, small child size) we have some spares available and if not enough for everyone we will go to good will and purchase some (bring them in Laundered and fresh) if our spares are not enough to go around. This is going to be a fun week and rain or shine we expect good times and lots of cool skills to experience and learn! REMINDER! Do bring a sketch book or journal and if you have none or we are supplying you we have you covered there too! BE SURE to read the full list of what to wear, carousel money stuff etc. DO wear swim suit or bikini under dress for mess clothes EVERY DAY! and appropriate footwear for creek and yurt...no flip flops, soles that can not be poked with pins or needles! Foot saftey is a MUST!

Julien Guibreteau, aka « Julien G », is an emerging french artist, whom work takes up miscellanous techniques to embody a universe made of humor and metaphysics... Conceived as Series, his artwork associates unlikely matching patterns. Within abstraction and narration, comics and plane pictoriality.

The artist will be in Lancaster for a couple of weeks (3rd till 21st) at the gallery, make sure to come by and discover this singular work: for the fisrt time in the US!

A sketchbook

Colored duct tape

Old jeans to cut up (can be huge, small, teeny doesn't matter)

Jeans to decorate to be ready for the summer of love of fashion coming up in a few weeks!

Colored tees from Michaels, A C Moore, or good will. Three that fit and three way oversize that we will be making into dresses. If your camper is very slender XL or 1xl is perfect.

A white cotton item to tie dye. Any article of clothing fine, doesn't need to be a tee.

A luscious ribbon or awesome belt they will design a dress around.

An UGLY item for a Geek to chic project that is a HOOT!

Patches, beads, appliques, yarn, studs, sequins, buttons, ric-rac stuff like that for using on creations. Can be just what you have around the house, or maybe invest about 7 bucks on an assortment if you have none already.

Fabric markers in your camper's FAV colors.

We have the sewing kits etc, but if they have anything cool they want to bring to show off or use, bring it!!!

Dress for mess prepared for VARYING temps with a bathing suit or bikini under clothes every day so we can change into outfits and fit the dresses without having to send them to the bathroom in twos (VERY important). Bring bag lunch and wear shoes that can get wet in case it is nice enough weather to have lunch at the creek. Let us know of any allergy issues.

WE WILL HAVE A GREAT WEEK! They will totally come home and teach you how to do some cool things you will want to do with your friends!

Dress for mess, bring a bag lunch in a zipper bag. Water bottles can be refilled at our waterfountain (purified). We have great cooler lunch bag backpacks available.

Footwear must be comfortable wet, and have a skid proof, PIN proof bottom like a keen or a teva type sandal. NO flip flops or Crocs. They slip don't provide adequate foot protection at the creek and are too soft--not puncture proof--- on the bottom.

Bathing suit under clothes if your camper is big in the water play. Towels are optional.
Sunscreen and bugspray encouraged.

Have a meeting place arranged between yourself and your camper and make the yurt the default meeting place if in doubt.

Let us know if there are any allergies we should be aware of or epipen in camper's bag.

Cafe is open every day, and carousel is open for rides weds thur and fridays. 1.25 a ride. We usually offer rides twice a day. We have a morning snack time when non sweet snacks are encouraged and can be packed with lunch or purchased at Cafe.

No supplies needed for Celtic Fairy Dragon Camp.

You guys are a very special group to me. WOW~wonderful art, and good times!
We had such a wonderful experience with the visit of Retired Georgetown Prof. Jim Foy who shared his enthusiasm and skill with the Japanese poetic form Renku on Tuesday. We are very grateful for him and hope we can do this again some time when it is good for him. NEXt week we will do it tuesday and keep the poetry going! It was deep fun! HE SENDS a very special thanks out to all of you from Jim Foy for your outstanding poetry and illustrations and for your wonderful ability to be in the spirit of the process. If you want to join the Renku group online we be sure to check with your parents to make sure that would be ok and remember to be careful online guys!!! Safety first and PERMISSION ALWAYS!!! Hello everyone!

Last week's Project Funway campers were so great. We created dresses out of t-shirts, accessories out of beads and duct tape, and designed our own labels for later in life when the campers can say "they knew us when..."! Surface embellishments and different stitches were employed, as well as block printing and tye-dyes. And as the finale, the campers put on a runway show of all the fashions - music, make-up, refreshments, and audience included!

Helpers for the week included our resident illustrator, Julie; our bright smiling face, Angelica; a new addition and professor of Fiber Arts, Rachel; and the newest of the new - Julien from France! He is an art teacher, and will be visiting and helping at the yurt for the next month, assisting campers with the ever-changing creative processes that continue to make our camps a wonderful environment for all ages.

Photos are soon to be posted - and if any of the campers also have photos they would love to share, please feel free to email them so we can share your magnificent creations!

OK, Super Calligraphic Colorific Camp
All they need is a pringles can, Old pair of jeans, roll of colored duct tape, spiral type journal or sketch book and a white tee to tie dye.

We are in BOTH CAMPS sticklers about safe footwear for creek and yurt. NO FLIP FLOPS OR CROCs (crocs do not protect from against pins and needles, glass shards and are slippery when wet) and movement will be restricted of any campers with unsafe footwear. Whatever shoes they wear to our camps must be comfortable wet or dry and can get muddy. We recommend Keens, Tevas or the type of sandal that wraps at ankle and has a non skid base.

Dress for mess in our camps. Ok to wear bathing suit under clothes for creek. Bag lunch and coolie in zipper cooler. We have one for cost if you do not have one. Towel optional. Can buy lunches at Cafe if prefered. We do snack in AM (unsweet) and often in afternoon, can be purchased at cafe or packed. Weds Thur Friday are Carousel days. now up to 1.25 a ride. We allow up to two rides at a time two times a day. So for the real carousel enthusiasts that can be 4 rides in a day. It is always optional not manditory.

Old pairs of jeans...one to cut up to make bags, One to decorate to wear.
A Sketch book or journal with at least 25 pages.
A white tee shirt (can have preprinting on...must be washed and dried if new)
Ribbon, sequins, buttons, beads, Thread, yarn, patches, lace, etc.

Michaels or AC moore will have:
WHite tee if you don't have. Must be washed and dried or certain dyes won't take on them.
2 or 3 fitted colored tees
2 or 3 XL adult or 1xl oer 2 xl if larger or taller girls or boys
Colored rolls of duct tape, favorite colors
3 or 4 Colored fabric paint markers in acrylic (the ones that shake with balls inside or the ones with soft tips) puff paint, fabric spray paint favorite colors.
A sewing kit (small ones fine)

The camp was originally scheduled for 10am. We moved it up to 9am per requests from parents...this season if we have all campers before ten we officially start the day if not we wait til ten. We have fun projects and finish time for previous projects from 9 to 10.

WOW! What a week. AND truly and adventure. THREE sets each eight by ten feet in size, for the summer camp performances. We don't put campers and volunteers names on our blog for security reasons. How I wish I could toot their horns but let the images speak for themselves. We had three days to pull off the big sets and one extra day to work on willie.

Birthday parties of beading, duct tape wallet, origami, calligraphy scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. 30.00 per participant...minimum ten or 300.00. Mixed groups FINE and adults LOVE our projects! Yurt is heated but dress for mess and in LAYERS.

April 09 SPRING break camp is a Supercalli with some of the funway projects...dress in Layers for this one too and sign up early as it can fill up!

June 8-12th AND AGAIN end of season August 31 to Labor Day Sept 4th

MOM AND ME Project Funway...9-3...this can be moms, grammas teens tweens youth above 5. A mixe group only makes it MORE fun. Also, if any youth are out of school already they don't need a partner if over age of 10. A sister or bro can partner with an under ten. MOMs...this camp will give you so many great activities to do not only with kids in parties etc, but also with friends too. June 15 to 19 Feather Hill Adventure Set Design Camp...We make real set pieces for Adventure THeatre's Summer Camp Productions, and create mini set model for the play of our choice. Also in studio and outdoor frolicking time as well, one of our trademarks. We love the nature time and also the fine work indoors in studio.

June 22 to 26, July 13 to 17, Aug 13-7, Aug 10 to 14 Supercalli Graphic Colorific Camp Our classic calligraphy camp with lots of outdoor fun and big afternoon three dimentional projects too. Lots of campers repeat this camp as we always find ways to change projects even if it is the same project....that will make sense to our campers if it does not to you. A new style of calligraphy every day. FUN FUN FUN! I can't wait for summer!

June 29 to July 3, August 24 to 28th, Celtic Fairy and Fantastic Dragon. Great camp for boys and girls who loved Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, fun mix of calligraphy, fantasy, paper sculpture, mobile making and nature fun with a fatastic twist. Kids who love journalling will also love ALL of our camps!

ok to do the same one two weeks in a row...again it is possible to do the same project a very different way in our camps....ESPECIALLY funway....so many possibilities.

July 20 to 24 and 27 to 31 This popular camp is wearable arts with some really super grow into not out of clothing making options. Sure we trick out jeans and make tee shirts, but also dresses and halters and beach wear and purses and bags...sooo much fun. But we also teach our designers in training how to keep a designer's journal and how to do many things that will help them be serious and fun about the whole thing. Perfect for the one who loves clothes and is creative. It may seem expensive but this camp actually is a money saver as you come away with lots of clothing and the ability to MAKE clothing....so keep it in perspective!

Pam attaches Barkley's saddle. This saddle was a project involving a boy from the Kathy's camp who made the initial saddle form and decorated it and two of our camps who made the other elements out of twigs, braided yarn, tie dyed tee shirt fragments and more. Barkley is such a lovely and cooperative model for all of our work. We did have some time at the creek for refreshment though. Peter and Pam have provided these photos for us to post. OH YES, I almost forgot...it was BARKLEY"s BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we had a big party!

..I took him to the creek thinking he would love it like Roxy did (our last dalmation, and avid swimmer). Zeebo was so scared he is not a swimmer at all. Most dogs when the swim will do all they can to keep their ears and face out of the water. NOT Zeebo...if he wants his toy and it is under the water, he sticks his whole head in to get it. Feather Tree Hill Campers 2008 Fairy Dragon Camp Olympic INSPIRATION

This extraordinary 6 by 18 foot Illuminated Manuscript created by these campers is a gift of friendship we will send to the children of China. It symbolized art as a bridge between cultures and was inspired by the enormous LED scroll of the shein Shuey manuscript of the mountains and the river unfurled in the opening ceremony of the olympics. Not only did they design it, but they executed it in dance and movement display as well. This group was really wonderful as they interpereted this concept with great seriousness and dignity. Special thanks to Suzannah McCarthy for the Chinese calligraphy brushes used for the application of the ink.

I have not heard anyathing from those who are looking for coverage in the Gazette for us yet. But as you know, the photographer took MANY pictures and though he said his assignment sheet indicated the print day was to be today, well, it is possible they decided they wanted to do something larger with it so, as I told you in the yurt the best thing is to stay hopeful but prepare for the news to not necessarily do anything at all. You never know what may come up that may take the space they had in mind. WE have many more great photos (Alana's film will be made into discs by Monday and then posted next week) and we hope to have the video for you soon. Part of our blog network is YouTUBE and with large files like our video this blog links up to them. We are still working at that! Keep on checking!

OLYMPIC INSPIRATION the Giant Illuminated Manuscript A children's Art Bridge project for the children of CHINA

YOU GUYS did an AMAZING JOB today!!!!!!!!!! We will do our best to make sure this is delivered to China and an exchange is complete as soon as possible. Parents, if you have any contacts in China or going to China soon please let us know. We do all these exchanges with volunteer and networking among our various networking groups and we feel sure we have the contacts it will take. If you have any White House contacts, we have done a White House exhibition before and with the Bush's interest in the Olympics it could be a good possibility they will be interested. The Purpose of Children's Art Bridge projects is to promote friendship and peace among children around the world using art as the means of communication. Your care and excellence in what you did is going to be greatly appreciated by many of kids and adults who see it over the years and across the miles.

The beautiful illuminated manuscript is 18 feet long by six feet tall. You included Mountains, River, Dragon, Moon and a surprise Bridge (LOVE the acrobatics). The carved Jade brushes were donated by Suzannah McCarthy and are valued at hundreds of dollars! Now you know what a good brush is like to work with...the Asians are the masters of this process of making brushes and inks. They are a closely guarded secrets, like family recipes. Sheng Shuei manuscripts are representative of harmony between the mountains and the river. We think this is appropriate as we want to promote harmony between us and the Chinese people. Plus Glen Echo is situated by a river with very steep banks nearby. You added a dragon and a smiley face on the moon (as did the kids at the Olympics). These additions are dramatically different so you may represent the harmony of the forces of dark and light with this. Your seriousness and respectfulness in doing this project are the true goals of a great artist so you have much to be proud of besides creating such a unique and gigantic brush painting.

You can look forward to coverage in the Gazette tomorrow. Pics were dropped off to be made into discs (from Alana's camera--thanks to Angelica for shooting today!) the discs should be ready by Friday or Monday. More to come...we will add video as soon as possible hopefully tonight(thanks to Julie for shooting that). More special thanks those important behind the scenes friends in this project: Allison the Ranger, Jenny in the office, Thomas for his presentation.

Special Opportunity for Moms, Grammas & Kids, Tweens--- Project Funway Wearable Arts Week before Labor Day

Our August 24-29 Project Funway camp (normally full) has a low registration due to the fact that Montgomery County Schools are already in session that week. The park Educational Director has allowed us to respond to Mom's request to have this camp for them! It is being offered as a mixed age camp with Moms/or Dads and kids, tweens and teens. We will run it with as few as five campers and will up the limit to 15. This is a fun week of creativity for anyone in your household who has a bit of time right now.

In this camp no sewing experience is required and very little basic hand sewing will be taught and used. We will create unique shirts, tops, skirts and dresses out of colored Tees, there will be much tie-dye and instruction on how to do it on your own. Calligraphy and drawing instruction to create one of a kind tees and decorated jeans and jackets. Make wallets and little evening bags and purses out of duct tape and jeans. Campers will learn how to keep a designer's journal and think like a designer. The geek to chic project is mind-blowing as items seemingly hopeless turn into usable wearable outfits and bags.
We will do a fashion show for each other and campers will learn runway walking skills and techniques. Lunches we can hang out at the yurt or go chill out at the creek with opportunity to wade and enjoy nature. We will have the park to ourselves which is really enchanting as all the other camps are out of session. There will be plenty of opportunities ride the carousel and use the playground for younger campers. The yurt studio is air conditioned and the shaded courtyard of the studio will be in full swing as our giant design studio space. Early predictions for weather are great for this week. In the event the weather is not good we will utilize other available space in the park. It should be a great week wonderful opportunity for moms to learn skills that will make for great birthday party/sleepover entertainment for kids not to mention skills to make some wonderful outfits for fall for the whole family. The average number of pieces made in this camp is 8, but faster campers who would like to purchase more shirts and items from us can make even more. This camp is a great value and opens up worlds of inventing outfits out of items found in every home, goodwills, dollar stores and yard sales.

Get ready for LOTS of fun and Lots of outfits and accessories in wearable arts! Now for items you will need to bring. Lets start with the things you may have around the house:

UGLY clothing item or purse...this is for geek to chic project. ANY size, anything. They do amazing things to transform these.
Old pair of jeans don't have to fit. We will make it into a purse.
Pair of old pumps or interesting shoes best are high heel pumps or old converse or even kids shoes or crocs. We will decorate the crocs to wear if they fit, and the shoes and pumps get turned into funky sculptural pieces that can be used for a cell phone charging stand or pen or scrunchy storage etc. Bring both shoes and again, each will do one sculpture and may share or trade the other for something else.
A sketch book. If you have done camp with us before you can use the same one you used for calligraphy camps. If you shop at AC Moore or Michaels, they will have it ALL under one roof. Bethesda folk love Bruce Variety and they are also a good bet for one stop shopping.
Also an item you may have at home...
You will need a blank white tee or cami...this item can be bought from us. We have them in stock and there are some fun things you can buy for additional (not manditory at a much discounted rate for dye-white clothing is sold for cost) tie dying. We have skirts, hats, shirts, camis, socks and shorts. If you buy a brand new white tee, wash and dry it to get the sizing out, otherwise it will come out rather pale. Ours are prewashed.

Colored plain tees...two that are perfect fits and two that are xl or if your camper is say a size 12 or larger buy 1x to 3x...these will be made into dresses.

You may also have some patches, sequins or glue on gems, beads, that sort of thing. This is your chance to get some use out of those things. Bring a few extra too. One thing we do in this camp is trading and sharing with each other. Even if you don't like it, bring it, you can trade with our stock and we will have many chances to share and trade.

Bring your favorite colors---4 fabric markers. We have many colors in the group supply, but important to bring your four favorite colors. ONe pack of puff paint is also very good to bring. Even if they don't have yoru favorite colors bring them anyway... you can trade with our stock.

A roll of colored duct tape

We have lots of paint, beads, stamp making stuff, dye, sewing stuff, ribbon and much more.

OK now to camp attire and food...
Dress for mess with a bathing suit or a bikini under. this serves two purposes, creek frolic wear and easy to try on outfits you are working on without running to the bathroom. Wear keens, Tevas or creek worthy shoes that are comfortable when wet. NO Wearing Crocs, or flip flops in this camp. They offer NO protection against pins or needles so we are absolutely strict about this. Bring a towel if you are not the air drying type. Sunscreen and bug stuff recommended. We have some on hand for reapplication. Baseball hat not a bad idea if sun sensitive.

No paper bags...lunch with coolie, two beverages. Snacking is ok in this camp, but be considerate of designers around you...snacking is done in the wire chairs so no food stains get on clothes. You can buy lunch at the cafe, or buy snacks there. Carousel rides are encouraged. ONE ride provided by us, but we are lenient about extra rides. Every day, Weds thur fri we offer campers at least one chance sometimes two. So if your camper loves the carousel, we will be glad to accommodate! Please decide on whether to meet for pickup at yurt, trolley or bridge. We prefer yurt and trolley as we can keep a better eye out for them. Alana's cell is 717-394-9769 please jot it down. Alphabet Arts Camp

This is our third year for Alphabet Arts ( created as collaboration between Alana and Katharine), a camp that focuses on drawn alphabets (vs. written calligraphy) for slightly younger students. Each day the campers learn a new alphabet (mayan, egyptian, elvish, etc...) and do different book arts and craft projects. And of course going to the creek for lunch!
